The main idea here is that intentional contamination of a food supply to disrupt society is described as food terrorism. When someone contaminates food with the aim of creating fear, causing economic hardship, and destabilizing social or political conditions, the action is labeled as food terrorism because the food supply is the vehicle used to achieve those broader harms.

Bioterrorism involves using biological agents to cause harm, but it isn’t limited to contaminating foods in order to disrupt stability. Agroterrorism focuses on agriculture and the broader food system—attacks on crops, livestock, or production infrastructure—rather than specifically on contaminating a food product itself. Sabotage is a general term for damaging or obstructing operations and doesn’t inherently imply harming the food supply to achieve political or social aims.

So, for a scenario centered on deliberately contaminating food to cause widespread disruption, the most precise term is food terrorism. In practice, this distinction helps focus defense and prevention efforts on securing the food supply against targeted contamination.
